Stumbled over the Jebao/Jecod return pumps, like the DEP-5000 or the MDP-5000. They seem to be substantially cheaper than similar return pumps from e.g. Aquabee, Abyzz, Tunze etc.

My question now is if this is a pay now or pay later situation and I would be very grateful if some Jebao/Jecod return pump owners could share their experience in terms of longevity, performance loss over time, sound level and so on ...

Thanks!

IME they work until you turn them off to clean. They are definitely not a long term solution IMO. Ihave a couple laying around because the 1st one died, then the 2nd... Etc..
Now i have Abyzz, Fluval and Sicce.

Been running a 6000 on my display and 4500 on my chiller for 2 1/2 years. The cost also allows for brand new backups to be here if needed. My M2 quit twice in one year and imo the L2 falls from the same tree.

I tried the jebao return style pumps back a few years ago ( maybe 10 or so) and went through 4 of them in about a year and a half. Everybody recommended you buy 2 ( they are cheap) so you can swap it out when it just stops working. Got tired of the routine.
I can keep the powerheads going for 2-3 years before they have issues.
That's just my opinion. I know people love them and swear by them . I mostly swear at them.

I’m looking to try a Jebao MDP-20000 on my new setup. I used a Maxspect Jump DC8K for 5 years with no real issues other than being undersized. I’ve had luck with low cost pumps. I figured I would give this a try before getting a Varios 10.
