Well I thought I had a plan but once I got to gluing the rocks things come out differently but it gave me another perspective. I was gonna use 3 bases to form something but I think one solid base with archs and over hangs stemming from the base would give ton of floor space for critters to move around and can flow will be able to sweep detritus off the bottom easily. This is what I got so far. Gonna branch out the right side next. Let me know what you guys think. Anything I can do differently?

I think I am about done. I'm pretty satisfied on how it came out. Should have good flow through out the scape. Now to let it set and put on marco400 tomorrow.

Looking good, I like the minimalist view but what kind of fish are you looking to get? Will have have enough hiding space? I like that you made a template with cardboard to visualize the setup.

Honestly don't have a fish list other then a couple clowns and a coral beauty I have in my 30g cube rn. But that was also my concern as well with the minimalist approach. Not much hiding space for fish. I think I will go with the 1st with more aquascape. Gives them more places to hide.

Even though there is more rocks. The scape has many open areas for fish to swim up,down, through in and out of caves and overhangs. The back side of the tank has a clear runway for good flow. My goal is to make sure every part of the tank is getting good flow to flush out settling detritus.

Sounds like a good plan. Make sure to test the rock in the tank with what ever tool you plan to clean the glass before you glue.
Yeah I understand that. That has been factored into the scape. It is at least 2-3" from the sides and rear and about 6" from front. Should be plenty room for most magnet scrapers.

Some tweaks to the scape. Added archs and overhangs. There is only 2 bases and everything else is structured as overhangs and archs to maximize water flow through, fish swim space and coral placement at different levels of the aquarium depending on light requirements for said coral. I think it came out better then I imagined. Can't wait to get all the gear and put this little thing together! Here are some pics. I don't know how to load videos here but I have videos of the scape on my IG reefsakes if you want or checknot out.

Got done with applying marco400 pink mortar. Hard to tell how the scape looks in pics but it's pretty dope haha how it came out. Now to let the mortar cure for a day or 2 and I will throw them into a bin with saltwater with some bottled bennies and let it go cure. Now back to configuring my cabinet that will house my apex and ecotech gear.

Well danm I used the od instead of the id tank mearsurent and kinda close to side glass but I think there is enough space for any scraper to fit. I was trying to achieve multiple focal points and I think I achieved that as your eyes don't get drawn to a single point. Also able to see through the tank from all 3 sides should translate to good water flow. Other then that. I'm pretty happy how it came out. Just gotta decide to get a new sump so I can fit a fleece roller or just forgot it and just set this up when the rest of the gear gets here next week.

Kinda bored and done with most of the things I need to do with the system until the rest of the gear comes in. Decided to get 6" air plate to install in the cab to pull and control the humidity in the cab, inkbird heater controller and american dj power strip.

man your rockscapes are awesome I'm a huge fan of NSR.
wanna rock jack black GIF
Thanks! Yeah I think it came out nice that gives me maximum space with several tiers for coral placement. Patches bounce shrooms and bright zoas on the floor, then lps right above them and sps towards the top back half. Should give me a nice cascading effect. Should be plenty of swim.spce for fish to dart in and out of.

Just weighed out the rock scape and one piece is 21 pounds and the smaller piece is 17 pounds for a total of 38 pounds. Gonna need to add surface area with some rock in the sump. Should be able to fit another 30# in the sump.

Awesome rockscape! I'm learning/catching up after being out of the hobby for about a decade too. But since we don't buy live rock straight out of the ocean very much and dry rock weighs so much less than wet/live... does the weight matter as much? Looks like you have a good bit of surface area with the different structures and lots of places for coral and also fish to swim around and hide behind. I'm curious if you know about how much the weight matters and how it differs with dry rock? Sorry if I missed it but do you plan to put sand in?
Your cabinet build for the controllers is awesome!
