Not sure how much flow you guys are putting across your screens, but you should have at least 35GPH per inch of screen across. Example if screen measures from side to side 10 inches then you need 350GPH feeding it. That would be minimum flow. Down length of screen means nothing.

Not too bad for the first week.... growth looks very even too. I'm pretty pleased. Now to do some water testing.

Nice, Lindsey! Not bad for the first week.

Are you alternating cleaning sides?

No. I just scraped it with a spatula and them lightly rinsed it. I tested and my phosphate was .20! Eeek. Higher than last week and we fed alot less. Nitrates were lower though.

Just out of curiosity, where are you guys putting these? Are you having to pump the water from your sump and then gravity feed it back in or what? I don't need one now but keeping an eye on this incase I do in the future. I understand how and why it works just not the mechanics(plumbing) of it.

Hey guys, so I am making a trip to Lowes this week to pick up supplies to make the ATS based (pretty much identically) from pickupman66. Where do you guys get the screening? Is it mesh or plastic? And what department would it be located? Any other tips welcome. Thanks for this idea!

You can also use some dielectric grease on the bulb sockets and ends. It works very well and is cheap. Now ager penetrates the grease into the socket.

Weatherproof sockets will help with condensation. Alsobread you can make a seal with silicone. The lid is not tight fitting. Luis. Ill see how the buildup of spray does. And then see. I have some acrylic. I alsobthinknibused the wrong bulbs. I bought daylights and not the soft colored ones. They may be too white.
