Nice deal!Got an awesome deal on another 2 MP40's yesterday including spare wetsides (for only just a little more than the price of one new!).
Was wondering if i am better off mounting them onto the back wall, or keep them on the sides with the others?
Actually was contemplating moving all the powerheads to the rearwall to make them completely hidden, has anyone had any experiance with this?
Would mean there would be 4 mounted across the back. (like below)
Would give a lot cleaner look on the viewing panels from the sides.
Yeah at the moment i'm running the 2 at 100% reefcrest, and the flow is awesome.Nice deal!
Having them on the back would certainly neaten up the viewing, I've seen a lot of people do it. Depends what kind of flow style you want I guess more than anything.
Kind of wish I could have mine on the back wall but also like the idea of running it the length of the tank so I can wind up the flow a bit more potentially.
love the torches you got!Well got back from being away for 3 weeks this weekend just gone, and other than very dirty glass and low Alk, the tank ran perfectly.
Although we did get a blackout for 4 hours after just arriving back home, so it waited for me to get back!
The Reefmat averaged 30-40cm a day while away (No Nori), and when i scraped all the glass it used 2m that day!
Dosing the Alk back up to an acceptable level now, then putting in a set of Ecotech Versa's that i bought while away!
Also added in some new LPS over the weekend.
Small Scoly Frag
Some Trachy's
Indonesian Gold Torch
And a 24k Gold Torch
Also added in a normal Frogspawn onto my Hammer Rock. But no pic of that one yet.
Have noticed that my Phosphates have crept up a bit, and now that i am back from holidays decided to get the fuge set up over the weekend.
Shifted some rock around in the sump, and picked up some Chaeto from the LFS.
Using an older Kessil light at the moment, will see how it goes.
Struggling to get my head around how much Alk the system is using, have been checking every day, but it seems to be inconsistent. Will post what i have in a seperate thread eventually though.
It has! Will take another shot later tonight. You remind me I need to test mine!
It's been about 2 weeks or so lol.
You've been busy with your tank and that 24k torch was really popping, has it come out more since the photo ?
Yeah I Know the feeling. I've bought a heap over the Christmas break to fill in the tank a bit more haha. The hard part is not going out and buying another 20 corals! I'm trying to be patient and get the levels more stable, have a doser ready to go, but making sure its correct first.
Good news on the torch. I hope the new location in the tank makes it extend fully.Quick update - had to replace the Refugium LED (managed to accidently flood the old one), so picked up one of the new TUNZE ones. Its a good piece of kit.
Added in some of the snails to the fuge also from the display to eat some of the other algae growing in there, but the Chaeto seems to be growing good, no noticable drop in Phosphate yet, but its also not going up...
My Gold torch still not extending fully, i moved it into a lower flow and darker area to see if that would help, and noticed that its getting a 3rd head, so that may be why?
Its weird with camera's, they seem to pick up the blues heaps more than eyes.Bummer on the gold torch. Would have looked great on the torchrock.
I had to look very well to see the torches on the tank shot. Those blues block out all color on pictures.
Nevertheless, things seem to be looking great.
I bought some small lens kit for phones, they just clip on. Can't remember the name but seemed to do okay at times with cancelling out the blues. Its weird with camera's, they seem to pick up the blues heaps more than eyes.
When you look at a tank normally they dont look blue at all - its just the lens on the phone camera, if i use a filter its a lot better.
My son has a DSLR that looks way better (just a lot more work to get the photos on-line)!
Thats the ones i normally use, just didnt bother for the whole tank shotI bought some small lens kit for phones, they just clip on. Can't remember the name but seemed to do okay at times with cancelling out the blues.
Shame to hear about your torch, be nice if it did come back over time.
