Yes sir. Not invisible, but close enough. It should certainly do the trick.
Nice job. Thinkin of a similar setup.

What's the reason behind the bead of silicone on 3 sides?

How's the one sump plumbing setup working out? Any issues with it?

Broadfield pointed out that the water often splashes up a side, and if it runs down between the tanks and dries, that'd be quite the unfixable mess. By putting silicone between the tanks, it keeps that from happening.

The plumbing is actually working out really well. The only hindsight concern I have is that the Emergency overflow on the 170 is shaped so that water stays stagnant inside it between uses. Like the loop in a sink drain. That's fixed easily enough by breaking the unions and draining it, or pushing air through to move the water out. Not sure if that will create any long term issues if I forget to though.

I used Tropic Eden reef flakes. Do NOT believe the people who say it doesn't need rinsed! I spent about 15-20 minutes per bag rinsing it just to get it to a cloudy state. It was pure milk when I started.

I missed this statement when I first went through your thread. I'm curious, did you use the "Live" Reeflakes? Because I, like others, have never had any sort of cloudiness when using Tropic Eden. I even just helped a buddy set up his cube, with Tropic Eden, and it was basically clear right out of the bag. I know most people, myself included, do not use the Live version... so just wondering if that's maybe why!?!

.... and where's the updates?:D

@Broadfield, I somehow missed your comment in December. Sorry.

Here is one of the types of reefflakes I used. I mixed these with a couple of bags of reefflakes.

I am way behind on updates. I keep improving things and wanting to wait for the upgrades. I'm going to do a video tour of my set up before long, but I wanted to wait until my UV is installed, which I plan to do today.

In the meantime, I have my seahorse display refugium pretty much done, aside from adding coral over time. I added the last of the macro algae yesterday. Here are some pics from this morning.

That is a really beautiful collection of corals.
Thank you. Ironically, that is almost all macro algae and gorgonians. Just the green star polyps would be considered coral. What's awesome about macro algae is that you can add it right away to brighten up a tank. You don't have to wait for the tank to mature like you do with many corals.

Love that seahorse. Almost invisible.

Did you get that Dragon's Breath macro algae from Worlds Under Water? :D

I've added a couple of residents over the last three weeks. A 3" Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish that is maybe the cutest thing ever, and a 3.5" Labout's Fairy Wrasse that's impossible for a photo to do justice.

On the coral side, I've added 22 frags of different cyphastrea. As soon as the cyphastrea starts looking good, I'll get a few pics, but for now, here are some pics of the fuzzy and Labout's.

I'm really crossing my fingers that the rhinopias doesn't make a meal out of the Labout's!

Rick Ross selfie. #IAteA$400Labout'sWrasse

Yep. There's literally about a grand IN this guy. Really sad this happened, but impressed at the same time. The Labout's was about an inch shorter than Rick Ross, the Rhinopias. My tank stocking strategy is going to have to adjust.

So, here are a few of pics of the tank tonight with the addition of one of my old brain coral that survived the crash, and new snake polyps for the seahorse side.

Still struggling to find a good fish that works with Rick Ross. I added a 4" Emperator Angel last week.

He immediately chowed down on my big acan colony, so we relocated him to the LFS.

I have a porcupine puffer and a long nose butterflyfish coming in tomorrow. They'll go through tank transfer method for 13 days, then I'll add them over a few days.

Also added some unreal acans from Aqua SD:
