I recently picked up a 120 setup. Here is the beginning build thread.

This is what I bought:

Starting to fill with water:

I had just piled the rock in there. It was filled, salt was added, and flow started. There was a lot of behind the scenes work at this time. I got a local member to come and scape the tank for me.

Then another did his thing building a canopy and doors for me.
Here is the full setup:

Doors:

I am not a fan of canopies at all. My wife made it a requirement that I hide absolutely everything with this tank, so I obliged. It was tricky coming up with an idea on how to mount the Tek. I didn't want to buy the legs but couldn't figure out how to hang it. After some brainstorming, this is what we came up with:
IMG_0451.jpg

The Tek is suspended using allthread with nuts to fasten it in place on the top of the canopy. There is a hinge towards the front of the canopy for an access door. There is a second one towards the back to lift the whole fixture up and out of the way if need be. The wood supports on the back of the Tek are to relieve pressure on the allthread when the fixture is lifted up.

I searched high and low and couldn't find anyone who had done something similar to this. I guess people just don't mount Tek fixtures in canopies or something  . Either way, it seems to be a pretty good design.

Here is the sump from the front:

and through the side access door:

and here is the scape. It is very open and asymmetrical and nothing is touching the back or overflow.

Very nice jaytizzle. How long has it been running? What type of animals you plan on keeping?
I am doing zeovit on this tank. The 14-day cycle started on Wednesday (8/19). After 10 days, I can transfer some of my more hardy corals. After 14, I can move everything in.

It will be a true mixed reef. The idea, though, is to have a school of apogon leptacanthus, a pair of clowns, maybe a couple of big fish. As far as corals, it will be SPS and acan dominant. I will have a ton of acans on the sandbed and acans all over the rockwork. There will also be a ric garden in the overhang on the right side.

Thanks, rev. That's the idea. The centerpiece on the tonga is probably going to be a raspberry prostrata. It will have quite a few pieces on it, though.

It is a MSX 200. It runs pretty well. Not very noisy at all but it is the noisiest thing on the setup. I like it a lot, though.

The vertex is my ZEOvit reactor. The skimmer is in the far left chamber, ZEOvit reactor in the center chamber.

And today is Day 13 of my 14 day cycle. The last of the corals will get transferred tomorrow. I am having a nice algae bloom right now but it should subside in the next day or two.

Looking good.
I personally love the look of an open top with the lights and all. i would have worked a compromise out with the woman.

I see. I just saw your previous post saying the tank is going to be running ZEOvit system. MSX extreme skimmers are the best bang for the buck IMO. I am very satisfied with my 160 on the 60g tank. If my sump were big enough, I would have gotten the 200. I have 6 threadfin cardinals and love them. I wouldn't say they are hardy but getting the healthy ones makes big difference. Clown fish can sometimes become too aggressive for them but that's just my experience and every fish has different personality. Anyways, really nice work you've done and can't wait to see it filled up.
