Second the above advice, for the $1 orso they are, they save a TON of issues down the road. You will absolutely run into issues with coral due to the rust in the water. :)

I echo both the above, i would get that out of there ASAP and get a plastic one. No metal should be exposed in any of our setups.

A little rust isn't going to hurt anything... There is usually other forms of exposed metal in our tanks.... check your return pump :). Long term however, the gold standard would be as little metal in the Aquarium as possible. Mostly because we don't know the composition of the alloys being used, and there is potential for heavy metal buildup over time. It's not an emergency, but as others have mentioned- for anything exposed to water plastic or nylon is best if possible. :)

Here's what you want:

top stuff mate" will check size of my pipe! iv got another jubilee clip at top off pipe that aint getting wet! Would you change that also!

Well, i would change it, but only because I'm OCD and want everything to match. Otherwise i wouldn't worry about it. :)

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
