Just how bad is Facebook really?

原来有人没有使用Facebook。我经常在YouTube上观看的视频是假新闻或恶意剪辑。看了他们之后,我还没有被洗脑。我只是觉得这些混蛋真是可耻。
I can understand part of that oddly. But I’m better versed in traditional not simplified.

我可以理解其中的一部分。但是我最好精通传统而不是简化。

I don't use FB for info, at least not reef info..I've been using forums like R2R since 2000. FB is for keeping up with friends who don't use the telephone or are in other states.

I have joined a few groups just for interest, several are local fishing groups..it seems the traditional forum style doesn't get much use where I'm at, but FB is busy.

With that said scrolling through one of my fishing groups was painful, it is pretty much disorganized where fishing conditions, selling, random fishing memes are all posted on one site. Minimal moderating depending on the site. Plus the targeted ads are annoying.

FB isn't bad (for reefing) if you steer clear of the big national groups. But connecting with a local/regional group can be very beneficial for meeting other reefers in your area, attending local meets, buying/selling face-to-face, etc.

But we already have R2R ;Sorry

Imagine somebody farting into a jar and then telling someome it smelled like roses then that person takes that jar and tells you it's the scent of a rose grown on the moon.
I imagine FB is far worse than a fart jar.

I use FB for local groups. R2R doesn't help in that aspect. Mostly just looking at locals selling stuff. Can find good deals. The LFSs in my area use FB a lot to advertise and such. So just depends on the region you are in. DFW has a lot of stuff going on in the reef hobby, but much of that isn't posted on sites like R2R.

Actually we do have a spot on here for that. Maybe not as localized but by state. And there are local reef clubs. I recommend joining if you can find one in your area. I’m sure it’s not as great as FB, but we could become even better if we work together.

The DFW threads are dead here. Same as most of the local DFW clubs. Only one that continues to live is DFWMAS, but it is mostly used for selling. No online forum is as busy for DFW as FB.

recommend them to here

Facebook is like getting arrested. Anything you say or do can and will be used against you. I could care less about FB. I'd rather reef.
happy reefing

Yes, but there's something to be said for your tank is crashing and a (more experienced) local reefer comes over to see what the problem might be. Just a couple of weeks ago I was able to help a lady who lives like 3 minutes away with a velvet outbreak. I also feel better about buying/selling locally; rather than rolling the dice on PayPal, does it really look like what I see in the photo, shipping, etc.

This isn't a knock on R2R, but rather how regional FB groups allow locals with common interests to connect face-to-face. :)
