So off to Home Depot for some lumber for the sides of the stand. Here’s my tanks so hype! I plan on adding a cross brace and some other structual stuff since I like over engineering!

I was just at home depot, The price on birch plywood is pretty good, compared to what I paid Wednesday wholesale ;)

Are the upper support rails and styles 6 or 8 inches wide? If I may suggest, adding one more layer of rails and styles to the upper, by laminating and screwing the boards that are already existing. that way, you would not need supports going across. By adding the reinforcing boards, you will not have sag in the center of the stand going forward. You would also not need the stringers. :)

Thanks I look forward to your build as well! I’m all about slow and steady so be patient with me!
Haha. I’m with you, but not really by choice. Need some help with a few things I can’t do in my own. But I’ll get there.

Soooo some more stand work. Interior is 83” total length 21 3/4” wide 29”
Interior height. Built a little lip for spills. Tomorrow I start sealing the gaps, I’m thinking 100% silicone? What do you guys think? I want to also start with the 1st couple of coats of killz mold/mildew resistant paint colored white so I can see spills. Im no carpenter but I’m liking how this is coming along. Slow and steady lol!!!

It’s been a little while but I’m still moving forward! Had to finish up the basement. Now just placed a big order, we’ll big for me lol, and am super excited to get back to the build full steam. Getting ready to finally finish painting the stand then it’s plumbing time!

Nice paint job, read the list of live stock, the zebra eel sounds so cool for the tank. I love eels but don't have a tank big enough for one so I enjoy seeing other ppls

My slow build continues! Painted the stand black yesterday and sealed all cracks. The top is finished with a textured exterior paint and I’m not putting a pad underneath since the tank is acrylic. Doors are ready but will be put on later and a big, for me, order just came in which includes a sterelizer, sicce return pump and other goodies I’ll take a pic of later. I’m hype, slow, but hype!!!

I’m sooooo not a carpenter but building this was fun. With the sump in place it’s tight but I can get in there with a utility pump and I’ve plumbed for work in tighter surroundings so no cutting this in half lol. My order came in so now I have more stuff lol and in a bit we’ll put the display on top to see how it all looks!

You know what? When I spoke to John at Advanced acrylics he said he didn’t see the need to but the mechanic in me feels it can’t hurt. I’m with you I’m adding a pad! Any recommendations?
