We use a 1/2" gate valve connected to a 20gal Brute that drips into the return chamber. The drip rate is 1-2 drops / second for our system depending on the season. Everything is connected with unions so that it can be cleaned every 6 months.

Just thinking out loud here. I wonder if an IV drip setup would work better.

Just set it up, I'll report back in a few days but it was extremely easy to set the drip rate.
