This morning i noticed the water looked like milk in the DT. last night i made new kalk (40 gal) and turns out when i unplugged the mixing pump I mistakenly pluged the dosing pump into the same outlet not the controlled outlet it goes in:) so i dumped about 30gal saturated kalk water into about 300g total volume. the ph is 8.8 and the kh is 8. stupid mistake!

Kh is about right if it is 8. Best bet is to let the Ph come down on its own. The tank will find its equalibrium.....

I would also say not to worry too much. You would have already seen any issues that may have happened. Thank goodness you have a large setup!

ouch. That sucks Bart. That is one thing that scares me with Kalk. As long as the PH didn't spike too much the calcium will disapate. 40 Gallons is a lot though. Your tank is super saturated with calcium, hence teh white cloudy water.

You could add small amounts of Vinegar to help dilute the Kalk if I remember correctly?? Check some of Randy Holmes Farley threads if you have acess to them.

would the vinegar risk a bacterial bloom and an O2 drop?
I keep the Kh around 6
the water is still very cloudy and quite a bit ov parcipitate in the surfaces
would a mag boost help? and how quickly should I try to rebuild the Ca levels?

also good to see reewik on the forum....i hope all has been well.

I found this article that details the vinegar
What is that Precipitate in My Reef Aquarium? by Randy Holmes-Farley - Reefkeeping.com added 20ml slowly and will add 10ml more this evening if ph still above 8.6

Your calcium is showing low because it all precipitated and is in suspension now and the test kit will not read it. Thats a big spike in PH, hopefully everything is ok.
