Hello!

Just started using Kalkwasser (Seachem Reef) and notice that it is leaving a white film ontop the water in the sump. Is this normal?

Yes, if you don’t have it covered it will get that film. That film will help protect the water, but a cover is better.
Kalk saturated water losses it’s potency in time. About a week or lil more if coved, less if not
