I don't have enough knowledge of KCl used for dipping to comment on the technique itself, but I'd want to use food grade KCl since it is not very expensive. Now Foods/Iherb sells it.

This would be the same mixing concentrations?

Next question: can I mix a full gallon and then pour what I need into a separate container? I'm assuming it won't "go bad".

I wouldn't. Just do the math breakdown and use accordingly. You could use a grams to liter breakdown or do 1 tblspoon per half gallon and so on. You should mix it with either tank water or the water the corals come in IMO.

KCl solutions never go bad just due to time.
