Hi everyone, I got this Kenya tree coral a few months ago, it was looking good for a while but just about two weeks ago it’s starting to not do so well. The polyps are semi-retracted and it’s branches aren’t sticking up straight anymore. All my other corals are doing well including a separate Kenya tree frag, zoanthids, green star polyps, and an alveopora coral. I got a few theories of why this is happening. My biggest one is I got a small flame angelfish last week, which are known for occasionally nipping at corals. Me personally, I have not seen it once nip at any of my corals since I’ve had it. I also have an emerald crab which I have seen before clawing at the corals, but I haven’t seen it do that in a while either. I don’t think this has anything to do with parameters as they have been fairly stable for some time. But so far I’ve measured
Nitrate: 5 ppm
Nitrite/Ammonia/Phosphate: 0 ppm
Alkalinity: 8.5 dkh
Calcium: 1390
Salinity: 1.024
Ph: 8.1
If anyone could give me some ideas for what’s causing this issue that would be great.

Possibly not enough flow. Mine is right in front of a gyre and likes it. Be careful with them though they can quickly get out of hand with spreading.

I’m not sure if flow is the issue here. You can see where I put it with the return pump here. I used to see it’s branches move with the current

I would agree with your guess about the Flame angel... mine lost it's mind after a year of being model citizen and ate up an entire rock of GSP (3 yrs of growth) plus most of the zoas. I got rid of the flame.

Is this something the Kenya tree will recover from or will I have to remove it before it dies?

I have an acclimation box, would it help to put him in there to get used to eating the food I give him?
