Kessil 360W vs Nicrew 150

Hi all,

I'm trying to decide on lighting on my tank. I have a 90G tank with depth of 24", currently using a Nicrew 150. PAR reading was decent, I got around 100 at sand bed with light at 65% hanging 8" above the tank. I now have a pair of used Kessil 360W. I'm thinking of switching given the reputation of Kessil but not sure what is and how much improvement I can get. It may be a little complicated to have the Kessil as the tank is Acrylic with closed top so, no rims for mounting. I may have to reverse the mounts and attach it to the basement wood frame, doable but more work.

From those who have used both, do you see any significant different between the two lights? Thank you. I have mostly softies and several LPS and some beginner SPS.

I do like the nicrew light, but I have no experience with kessil. Google tells me the kessil is 90 watts, so 2 will be 160 watts, so its similar to the 150 watts you have now. IMO. But maybe 2 pendants will spread the light out better to your corners compared to one nicrew? It might take some experimenting.

The only one I can compare to is the Nicrew HyperReef 30 gen 1.
Kessil is unmatched in color blending and shimmer. However it lacks power when it comes to its weight class in price.

I own 360xe-blue, a160-blue and a80-blue.

I have yet to find anything close to color and shimmer.

I'd imagine you will get a bigger impact with 2 kessils vs the single nicrew. The power is the same, but you may find more par depending on the color and spread of the two.

One of the big things about kessil is getting the same par output no matter the color spectrum. Meanwhile other brands tend to lose par depending on color spectrum. (unless I'm wrong).

Thanks. I did hear about the feature of Kessil to keep the same power despite color. However, they said they were not the believer of PAR.
