Reefbuilder's just posted this article recommending the light.. but for lps, softie applications. :/

l
ooks like I may need another light since I plan for SPS dominant.. any suggestions? I currently have an a150.. do you think if I ran it side by side with an a350 I would get enough penetration or does it not work that way?

I'm getting great growth out of my acros..if you notice in there pics there really aren't any acros in that tank so I'm not quite sure what he is basing that on

I just put a 350 over a 27 cube and the tank looks great. No shadows and just now starting to put in SPS frags. Will keep you posted.

Thought I'd update on my progress with the kessil.

I love this light, FaviaFreak, thank you VERY much for posting this thread up. Not sure if I would have gotten the light without it.

My corals are loving the light and I finally got all the acclimation screens off after rearranging the tank around. My channels are running at about ~60% blue and ~40-50% white right now, and I'm going to be ramping them up about 5% each week on each channel for the next several weeks. Colors on the coral look very good and the shimmer totally rivals MH lighting.

Sorry for the bad pics, they are not representative of the true look of the light...my iphone does not like the LED lighting. But you can get a sense of how the corals are doing.

FaviaFreak, what camera are you using to get such awesome shots??

Those are with a point n shoot?!

I'm going home and busting my old one out...

Also going to try and borrow my friend's DSLR, so if I do I will certainly update with better pics.

I love these lights. We have 2 A350s mounted 12" above the water surface on a standard 120 (48x24x24) and all corals are loving them (softies, lps, sps). Everything has shown excellent signs or growth especially lps and sps. We are getting new colors on our acros than what we had under a 6 bulb t5. If kessil will come out with a fixture with auto dimming and timers, these lights will be top of the line for reef tanks. I can't say enough about them already.

Kevin,

This thread is great. Thanks for starting. I have been looking more and more into a LED system to replace my 150w Sunpod over my 29 Biocube. I got a question - 29 Biocube - Would i need the A350 wide verison?? The dimensions are L 20.8 x W 20.1 x H 19 of the tank.

What are you wanting to grow?

It's a mixed tank - few sps, mostly LPS. Possibly a clam down the road. I figured at my depth the A350 or wide verison would be fine. I was more worried about coverage and filling the tank with enough with light.

The regular A350 should give you plenty of spread, just be sure to hang it the 12" above water surface. We have 2 over a standard 120 (48x24x24) spaced evenly and it gives perfect spread.

That is both blue and white 100%. It's not nearly that blue but this was taken with my phone. All the sps (we've added some since then) are loving it. We are seeing more colors and rapid growth, especially compared to the 4 t5s and 2 150w MH that were over it previously from all corals (soft, lps, and sps). Lights are exactly 12" above the water surface.

I'm still trying to decide on this pair of A350w on a 120g. I found the corners too dark and rock scaping created too many shadows, so I added T5 supplements. This is short video with T5 supplements on, what do you think? Kessils at 100%.
