I personally think that kessils look the nicest to my eyes, but that’s just my opinion. Having said that, I still have concerns about their spread. Maybe spam them?

Only kessil? What is your light schedule?
Also have a reefbrite actinic xho. Kessils start ramping up at 8:00 AM for 3 hours to 60% at 11:00. Run at 60% for 7 hours then ramp down over 3 hours. Reefbrite turns on at 11:00 AM and turns off at 11:00 PM.

The biggest thing promoting the myth with kessils and SPS is people just don't use enough Kessils. I think of mike pelletta's tank where he used 6 XR30s over his 300 gallon. It seems hard to find people who use 6 AP9x on a 300 gallon.

If you only use 1 360x for every 2 ft by 2ft area then you will be disappointed. Most SPS keepers should use 1 90 watt 360X per ft of tank or 1 180 watt Ap9x per 2 feet of tank. My current tank is a RedSea 750XXL and I am using 3 360s and 2 9xs. You really need this many modules of any brand to have a well grown out SPS display.

I had 4 kessil a360w and 4 of the orphek strips on my 90 and grew everything I wanted. Just recently upgraded to orpheks just get more punch buy definitely miss the shimmer. They are fantastic lights and will grow fantastic corals. Brs uses them and stands by them with supplemental lights just to rid a bit of that shadowing

Exactly! They always compare the 360 to the XR30 instead of the XR15 it seems. For sps, my rule is one 360x for every 18" square at it's optimal mounting height, but there are exceptions to that rule. The one thing I'm hoping Kessil will offer in the future is a larger reflector for us sps lovers. I really think it boils down to sheer size of the reflector that will make a difference.

Nice! I'm using 360x's with OR2 blue plus bars on the sides (front and both sides), but want to add another on the back side for complete coverage. Although, I'm considering using a couple 500x's mounted high with custom reflectors? Then I'll be back to my 90's halide days as far as coverage and looks.

It was this with a second set of the or120 blues before I switched them. I'm really interested in the a500x but got a great deal on my orpheks I could pass up.

I think you'd be happy with a couple a500x with the 360s on the outside angled to help on the sides

Don't believe the hype. Especially with the new ap9x and 500s that just came out. They will grow anything.

lol this video is such crap. Firstly the owner of the shop is such an actor here. He has always been rude to me; never even seen him smile. Secondly, those tanks always have dying coral. They continually remove/replace pieces to make it appear like all is well growing well to newcomers.

not saying Kessils cannot grow SPS. it's all about PAR.

That's unfortunate.
