I'm not sure of the price in the US but here in the UK they are expensive for what you get. You have to purchase the holders and the spectral controller separately this all adds up.hi guys, why don't I see many reefs with kessil lights ? maybe because they are unable to grow and color acropora like radions? show me your full sps reefs under the kessils
I didn't purchase the controller or mounts and just hung them in my hoodI'm not sure of the price in the US but here in the UK they are expensive for what you get. You have to purchase the holders and the spectral controller separately this all adds up.
I have the A360WE tuna blues...what percentage do you run, and how far off the tank?
Nope, they do a pretty crappy job at coloring and growing sps, I'm just gonna tear everything down and find better lights.
My 360x's are mounted roughly 9" from the water surface. Intensity is 92% or 95% during peak time (8hrs) and color is 30% during peak hours. Violet is 100% during peak hours and I'm adding 5% red and green for 4hrs (experimenting a little with red and green). I have a 2hr ramp up and down for a total 12hr cycle.I have the A360WE tuna blues...what percentage do you run, and how far off the tank?
thank you very much for all the information you have provided me. according to you in my reef 48 "x22" x22" how many and which kessil would I need for colored acropora? also, nobody knows the wavelength of the purple white blue red and green LEDs that are used in the kessil?
Would technically I think be cheaper, but you'd get better spread from 4 separate light sources. You can spread them out better. But if it's money then you can do 2 ap9x and add some reefbrites or tge orphek stripsThanks for the reply. but 2 ap9x should be better and cheaper than 4a360X or am I wrong?
Are AP700s still in stock? I just got 2 of them for my 48" 120g a few months back when they went on sale/clearance. $1,000 for 2x name-brand lights is a deal, even if it's last generation. I had them on there with a 48" LED 470nm bar to supplement but ended up turning the bar off, and turning the lights way down, because it was clearly pushing too much light into my tank. I have a couple of SPS colonies in my main display and am working on adding more frags from the frag tank now that the tank is >1 year old. Peak output now is 45% I think, and BRS' video recommended 60%-65% I think. Thanks for the reply. but 2 ap9x should be better and cheaper than 4a360X or am I wrong?
They're still listed on Kessil's website, but I'm not sure if they are still producing them or not? I would rent or borrow a par meter and know what your actual numbers are. It's the only way to know and be safe. Are AP700s still in stock? I'm comfortable with what I have now. Thinking back on it, I foolishly went with their SPS dominant settings while having a mixed reef....and threw in an LED bar on top of it.They're still listed on Kessil's website, but I'm not sure if they are still producing them or not? They're tge old version. Kinda buggy software, but still a fantastic light. I'd do it just to save 500 bucks than 2 ap9xI'm comfortable with what I have now. Thinking back on it, I foolishly went with their SPS dominant settings while having a mixed reef....and threw in an LED bar on top of it.
