KH keeps dropping with modern reef

Was previously using all for reef but wanted to try switching to modern reef as I liked not having to mix anything up. Kh had been pretty darn stable with all for reef and using the formula on the modern reef website figured the dose of modern reef black would be 1/2 the dose of all for reef but my kh has just kept dropping consistently even as I have kept raising my kh1 and kh2 doses.

I am dosing kh1 and kh2 together as I only have 3 available pumps. I did double the dose due to this per modern reef. I started with 84 mL per day and am now all the way up to 135 mL and my kh is still dropping by like 0.1 per day. What am I missing here? I am SUPER disappointed and feel like I wasted $100 and am risking my corals health.

And please don’t say “why did you switch?” This isn’t about that. I want to know why the modern reef is not doing what it should be doing.

The higher pH may be boosting demand. Unless the dose gets excessive, I’d just keep upping the dose to maintain alk.

The conversion should be 0.6 (almost half). So yes, the 135mL seems excessive even if pH increased.

Have you checked for crystallization in the bottom of the KH cans? That can happen if they get cold during transit/storage. The crystals can partially block the dosering line.
