I’ve been buying from fellow hobbyist, via Craig’s List. I’ve had better success with those corals, verses LFS.

You are not imagining things. You really have to hunt and peck both online and at most LFSs for decent Softies. Checking frequently is about all you can do. As an example, I went to Reefapalooza in Orlando a year or two ago, thinking I’d find the Mother Load of Leathers, and other Softies. No dice. Also when you see something you want, sometimes you just have to jump on it, even if it’s a bit pricey. I got this recently at an LFS for $150:

If you contact KP or Reeftopia and tell them what you want, there’s a good chance that they will get it for you on their next collecting trip. I have asked for and received, specific size gorgs and fish that were listed as ‘out of stock’

pardon the blue…T5,s …can’t adj
oh forgot to mention..one issue is they are “kinda” labor intensive to mount = no super glue

I love MikeC's Tank, its what inspired me to go full on softie, but if I can't even find the coral, whats the point. Least with sticks and lps, you can find them everywhere, may have to pay some pricey points, but you can find them.

Like this is crazy, Marinefarmers has a few pieces I want, but all out of stock. Aquacorals has a few too, but $90 shipping...almost as much as my order would be. Might be my only option though.

I can't sit through live sales, I hate that the hobby has come to that. Like put the coral up on your website, put a fair price on it and leave it be, shouldn't have to wait on a Live sale and HOPE you see the piece you want and then HOPE you can be fast enough to grab it. While possibly waiting 3 hours for it. I don't have that kind of patience or time. Patience in the hobby is one thing, patience sitting at a computer for 3 hours straight and finally see the coral piece you want and still not get it cause someone had faster internet connection is dumb.

Live sales bore me more than excite…gheez this should be a thread unto itself, please one day start one as I couldn’t have said it better…irritating really
Seahorse Savvy has some, in the menu if you click on seahorse friendly corals they have some.
I was gonna say this also…the gorgonians especially

Man I've searched hard tonight and found 2 vendors who I would qualify as a Soft coral Vendor, MarineFarmers and Aquacorals, everyone else has like 1-2 pieces or just consider zoas/shrooms and thats it. No leathers, sinularia, gorg, etc.

Making me think I should just do what everyone else is doing and go full on sticks...ugh. Really wanted a nice softy tank, but man its difficult to find the corals I want.
If it's any consolation there are exactly 0 coral vendors of any sort in HI.

If you build a large softy tank… you will have something unique and it will feel awesome when you find that one rare piece.

He also doesn’t have softies just zoas which as I said my posts is not what I’m looking for.
Thanks though
If you were in Canada I could certainly help you out. Have lavender leathers, various nepthia, various long tentacle and some purples, also gorganian.

Wow! I need to salute you! Love your setup so tiny and cute and personable!

Do you take this 6 gallon to all the events? Is it glass or acrylic?

Hey, if I am ever in the Toronto area again, I would love a bit of that purple/red toadstool!
