I have a seaklear pool phosphate remover. The ingredients say lanthanum trichloride. Is this the same as just lanthanum chloride?

I have a 300 gallon tank and I have stubborn phosphates because of rocks I added. I have been using phosban and it’s expensive and not working.

Those are identical. All lanthanum chloride is LaCl3. :)
Do have have a chemistry/biology background? How do you know so much? I’m inspired. I’m currently majoring in biology.

Yes, I have a BA double major in chemistry and biology, and a PhD in chemistry. :)

I just overdosed and dosed in a bad manner.

read other articles on dosing. Overflow , slow, heavy filtration to get precipitation out.

my results were low phos and 2 dead fish . Tang and clown.

Oof. Best thing you can do it turn on your skimmer, run filter socks (5 microns best, but if you can’t get it others will work). Water changes.
