Hi guys,

I have two ocellaris clownfish. One black/white and regular one. Black is smaller and always being attacked and trapped in the corner.I have never seen him vibrate. The aggressor sometimes vibrates. From what I have read the black one should eventually start submitting and the aggressor shouldn’t really vibrate. Should I ride it out? Black still looks okay, slightly nipped fins but nothing crazy.

I want them to pair. Any thoughts would be helpful thanks!

Sometimes bonding can be violent. I've seen both do that little vibration dance. Just make sure the clown doesn't get too bullied and watch for bacterial infections.

First time I saw the dance I thought it was flashing and that I had ich or something lol

When I first set up my current pair, the bigger one “vibrates” at first then after a while the smaller one (male) vibrates. Once in a while they still do the dance, even when the male is tending the eggs.

Funny thing is my clowns (same colors and size corresponding to colors) are doing the same thing. From other places I’ve seen the best we can just keep an eye on them. There is a small chance both are becoming females.

In my case the black clown has claimed the cave as home and the orange clown doesn’t bother him there, but anytime he comes out he gets chased back in. (Ignore my ugly dry rock, I’m still waiting for coralline algae)

I also see the bigger clown do the dance more frequently than the smaller one.

Clownfish really do have tough love.

Their method of bonding is not dinner snd two tickets to the premier of Nemo.
The tremor you see if a ritual for acceptance.
Sometimes placement of an anemone can bring them together but can also be a territorial war
