They probably have true peppermints and they work like a charm. There are like 6 varieties sold as peppermint but only one is an actual peppermint that eats Aiptasia

I have 4 of them in my tank and they most definitely eat them. I havent seen them doing it, but every day there are less. They come out at night and smash them.

I added peppermint shrimps from ReefTopia, and they eliminated all of them. I forgot aiptasia even exists.

Try those shrimps from that source. They’ve been completely reef safe.

I did the same but pre-treated with Joe's Juice, Have few heads that somehow the shrimp avoid.

But from hundred to maybe 5, I'm not complaining.

I have about 8-10 aptasia in my 125 tank right now. I added 4 peppermint shrimp and my big cleaner shrimp attacked and killed them all. He went right after them. I was shocked. I'm going to try to remove the cleaner shrimp before i add more but not sure how to accomplish that since he never comes out. I also thought about the berghia but i have a couple wrasse and i've heard they'll eat them. Also thought about aptasia x but all mine are footed vertically on rocks so i can't cover the them well. I ordered a laser a few days ago but i'm on the fence whether i'll use it after reading some of the posts here.

I've had great success with Joes Juice. Just turn off all flow before treating and leave it off for 15-20min after.

I swear that's just kalk paste. I used kalk paste on a few the other day and it does the same exact thing.
Only the syringe doesnt clog after you use it.

I tried them last year. I added 6 to my 260 gallon. I didn’t see a single aiptasia after a week (not exaggerating). Later that year, I had to dose interceptor to my tank which wiped them all out. The aiptasia started coming back after several months. I added 6 more, and again, they completely eradicated them within a week. I wish people would just listen and buy them. I don’t understand the obsession with kalk paste, joes juice, aiptasia X, epoxy, lemon juice, vinegar, etc.

Do people like to make themselves suffer??

problem is that there are scumbag LFS's out there not selling real peppermint shrimp...

Usually they sell camel shrimp. As peppernints

As asked in an earlier post ..you can blind a fish with this ..I did accidenetly about a yr , and lost a nice clownfish ..so be super careful..maybe zap the aptasia at night , when the fish are in sleep mode ...?

I wouldnt even bother if I had to expose it multiple times and that cant get into hard places.

A laser is more of a liability than anything.

Kalk Paste still wins.

No not interested in suffering either. I would love to try these Shrimp for my Aiptasia problem. Currently there are 5-6 of them tucked into my rocks and not bothering any corals. The feeling is not mutual! Would I be concerned with getting scarfed up by my Marne Beta? He’s been around for many years and currently living happy with 2 large Flame Shrimp (4 years). Tired of Franking the ones I can get too.

Got this great laser that is wrecking aiptasia. Love that it plugs in! Figured I’d share my fun.

Here are some videos of it doing damage.

Aiptasia I use a hypodermic needle filled with kalkwasser water, and I shoot it into the base and it will fall apart very soon. If done right, they won’t come back, but you have to use it on each individual one.

Do you have your tank under a night light or something when the lights go out?
My peppermints only come out at night and that's when they will eat aiptasia when they come across them.
Otherwise they will hide all day in my tank. None of them have been eaten, I sometimes freak out in the morning when I see shrimp shells on my power heads, but that just means they molted. It happened once already. But they do come out at night and they will eat them. You might not see it, but they will. It's not an instant gratification thing either. It takes time.
