I believe 6 degrees celsius is sufficient to have a 1 psu difference on your refractometer with calibration liquid.After recalibration of my salinity meter I doubt that my new standard is right or I have missunderstand it. Its Aqua Medic test solution for refractometers - it say 35 ppm. Anyone with experiences of this test solution. I think its for 20 degree C and I test it at 26 degree C. Can 6 degree c change it from 35 psu to 36 psu?

Yes there is, called kiss reef system , you've probably heard of it.
We've had KH as low as 5,5 shorter periods in tanks with lots of SPS. Just like you my thought has been "now the tanks and the corals looks really great!" and then I've measured KH and it's been low. But every time I mention this in forums lots of people claim KH below 6 might kill the corals..
Maybe we should keep this a secret and develop a new method ;)

Sometimes I am very pleased with myself - I write rather good posts (If I say it by myself at least :) :) ). I look at my aquarium - it has never looks as healthy as it does now. Everything working.
But I have a trick to make a very fast return to the surface of the earth - the free fall trick I normally name it. I pick up my tools for measurement of alk, Ca PO4 and NO3. The result normally wake me up from the dreams - this time was no exception. Ca 470, KH 5.8, PO4 0.18 and NO3 16. the KH is most of concern. But it looks very well - some of the LPS that has been living but nearly not more than that suddenly looks very healthy. My gut says (at least the part I still have) - do not worry. Just correct the pumps and wait to see what´s happens.
The growth of my clams has been unimaginable. I bought the first 11 month ago - size 4-7 cm. Soon after I bought another one - same size.
At that time - both fit in between the rockwork and the side glass of the aquarium. clam 1 to the right - clam 2 to the left![]()
Today - clam 2 in the same space - compare with the dead snails
This week I got a forth deresa clam - size 4 - 6 cm. Here it is beside the number 1 clam![]()
Something has been done right the last year at least. Interesting is the Euphyllia to the left - it has not grown at all - its the same size as 1.5 years ago.![]()

I notice in your thread the dsb with slow movement of H2O at effluent end. I found this awhile ago. 3-5 gallons of water(small dymico). I've try to figure out water movement see if you can. I think they use timing for pump (s), with orp sensor. Very interesting

I get low alkalinity/ph when using sulfur denitrators. That's why I asked. Thanks guys. Have a good weekend
