Leather coral - Sweepers???????

Hi All,

I know leather corals don’t have stingers / sweepers but this thing throws out these 2 things every night. Every day it’s big luscious and green lol so to me it’s healthy. Is this something else? I can’t see anything under the coral and they seem to be coming straight out of the coral themselves. Any ideas?

I don’t think it’s that I’ve seen it shed before and come back bigger. These things come out every night as soon as lights are out. They also have a feather like appearance. It’s so weird!

look for the pink blob on base of coral ,that is where the sweepers are coming from
gently scrape off ,make sure you get all of it...

Are you thinking vermetids? That’s what it looks like to me. The slime from vermetids.

look for the pink blob on base of coral ,that is where the sweepers are coming from
gently scrape off ,make sure you get all of it...

I can’t see a pink blob I got another photo still think it’s vermetids? Definitely not coming from the base of the coral….

Have you considered gently brushing with a soft bristle toothbrush?

Your leather looks pretty healthy but I had one recently that had a small piece that was rotting. I think my BTA stung it. I gently brushed the piece off with a toothbrush and it was back to open and happy the next day.

If the “sweepers” concern you maybe that’s the easier way to go.

What is it? Not sure if I got it off or not but a small amount of pink / purple jelly like stuff came off I’ll see if I can get a picture but is that what you where saying?
