Leather toxins!

The fink fuzzy devil's hand in my Evo has grown. A lot. A couple of weeks ago, my lovely tort colony started to bleach, even though I hadn't changed anything in my regular maintenance routine. I moved it to another tank after I noticed that the devil's hand had grown into the SPS (bleaching has stopped, but the entire colony is now a drab brown). About a week ago, I noticed that my beloved cynarina had stopped opening -- nozzles are blowing straight from the devil's hand to the cynarina. I do run a PS2 skimmer and chemi pure blue, but think that it may not be enough. Is my devil's hand causing havoc in my Evo?

Maybe since it is so small. I would buy some rox carbon and run that instead while changing it out more frequently.

Chemi-pure tries to make claims that are unreasonable to me. Change every 2-4 months my butt... it's probably saturated and not helping.

You can also change the position of the coral so its by the overflow so potential soft coral toxins get filter quicker by good carbon.

I'll try the carbon, but I think I'm just going to move My Precious to the Reefer 350. All the other corals in the tank are fine...but then again, they're also softies. This is the only LPS left in the tank, after my chalice frag recently bit the dust. Maybe that one was a warning sign, too...
