Moyeri! A stunning leopard too - not the most common or gorgeous from a distance but look at them closely and the colours just pop.

Yes, definitely an M. moyeri.
A female.
Is it a female though? I’ve yet to see a difference in male vs female - Kuiteri has a clear difference but Moyeri isn’t quite so obvious to the eye (much like Choati - unless you get a proper juvenile like I managed to source in December).

The difference is less stricking than with other Macropharyngodon species.

The male is more green. Dorsal and caudal fins get clear greenish/blue stripes. And the flanks behind the gills are yellow/gold.
The female has barely any color in the tail fin. The male’s is full of color pink-green-blue-green-pink from top to bottom.

I’m writing this as I watch my male and female swim around. I’ll try to take some picture later today when the lights are at their peak.

The male was happy to pose:

The female was shy…

I have always loved moyeri but those photos are drop dead gorgeous. It really makes me question if I do kuiteri or moyeri now.

Yeah! Here she is - she’s tiny (1 inch when I got her and she’s already grown twice her size).

When I first got her in the LFS. She was smaller than my pink streaks when I got her into my 3‘ 25G tank.

My main thing was I left her in the LFS for 2-3 weeks to settle down before I moved her again - I could’ve moved her the day she landed but it was too risky.
She feeds off everything and anything too! Even pellet she will take an interest to - picking the smaller pieces (her mouth is tiny right now). I also had a tank full of pods ready to house her if she did go on a hunger strike (luckily I didn’t face any issues like that). Eventually she will have to leave the 3 foot nano unless I remove some rock/make the tank more spacious for her, but luckily I have a 5 foot 700l wrasse tank for when that happens!
