so it’s been a while since my last post however quick update me and the boys were adding fish to our 29 gallon tank. We recently started had a few fish and a handful of other critters in the tank. This past Friday picked up some carpet nems from my LFS and stuck them in monitored them over the weekend went to work Monday came home. Found them to look like they were inside out was doing some research as me and the boys are new to the hobby. What I thought was them just getting acclimated turned out to be them, basically starting the dissolving process in my tank as I was unaware and inexperienced I continued to watch and let it go. later I found one of my crabs to be upside down on the bottom of the tank started investigating however it all happened so quick. I noticed my diamond Gobi jumping up and down out of the water then out and onto the floor at that point I was red alert.!!!!!! I had no idea what was going on luckily my 125 gallon tank I showed in previous posts I had already set up and had cycling for about three weeks now I wanted to cycle it a little bit longer as the tank is huge in my opinion, being new to the hobby however I had no choice being I was in straight panic mode and being my first time ever experiencing something like this I instantly picked up the diamond goby and placed him in the tank running back-and-forth netting fish and placing them in the other tank frantically at any rate I was able to save three out of four clown fish X2 feather dusters a handful of other long tip nems a few urchins I had three casualties one yellowtail Dottie back one orange/purple, naked, clown, fish and a Sally Lightfoot crab. Everybody has been rehomed and seemingly doing well and every time I pass the tank, everybody comes out to the front of the glass as if they were thanking me I was able to save 97% of my tank counting my blessings im currently in the process of water change on 29 gallon tank to keep as a spare/random tank it was a crazy night and the only thing I can think of is the NEMS nuked my tank . lesson learned after returning to the LFS and speaking with a different associate questioning what I purchased I was informed that they had just received the NEMS’s the afternoon that I purchased them I asked him why would they sell them to me without telling me that and that anybody who has any sense including myself being green at this, hobby would know they would’ve never made it and would be setting me up for failure if done so he had no explanation. It was like well sorry man so I left with no results. in the process of contacting customer service for some type of refund or compensation. And for anybody who questions if there’s something wrong with my tank. I’m about 90% sure it was not my tank or water as everything else in the tank was doing very well and is still doing very well in the new tank the NEM‘s that I already had existing in the 29 gal tank didn’t even change their state or shrivel up during the transfer process so the 125 tank is pretty close in parameter I assume because of it not having affected most of or any of the wildlife. I did not lose anything after placing it in the new tank. So middle finger to the LFS.
Before the transfer, everything seems to be doing well the new NEM is in the back left corner in front of the rock NEM. NEW 125 \/ I know there’s a few bubbles in there lol however I’m low on water. I just picked up a RO/DI filter system however I also found out the water. My area has CHLORAMINES in it and I need a separate filter for that. waiting for that to come so I can set it up and add more water Tomorrow I run X2 flu Vall, FLUVAL FX4 filters with a OCTO 2,000 HOB 2000 protein skimmer. I hope this tank dose pretty good.
