I believe it is a 8 lined wrasse. The question is now is it worth having in my tank? It's about 3 inches long and got it for $20. Should I keep it? It's in a mixed reef as of now.

They get more aggressive as they get older, particularly to peaceful fish and fish added after them.

They also get 2 or 3 inches larger, if I'm not mistaken.

Is this picture good enough for an id?

I will get a better one once the fish is out of the bag.

Lol yeah but what species....

Im pretty sure it's not what I ordered so I want to confirm before I contact the vendor.

Likely C. pylei, but I'm not 100% on a blurry photo. :P

Looks like cf pylei to me.

Well, that's what I think it is as well, but I have the luxury seeing the fish in person.

I am fairly certain it is not C. rubrimarginatus as ordered

Not rubrimarginatus; not with the yellow around the eyes and no yellow on top of the head.

fwiw, not the first time I've seen a vendor mix up those females.

Not the first time I have recieved pylei when ordering rubrimarginatus. Or the second. QM has wrasse issues lol

First pic blurred but shows the ventral fins.
