I burn 11-12 face cords a year which I guess is about 4 cords. I just buy 2 trailer loads that apparently is 6 cords. The first year I had no idea about face/full cord. This is only my 3rd winter burning wood. I lived my whole life before this house in the suburbs and some of my friends still don't understand how the wood stove "works". I have let it go out a few times this year but last year I lit it once in either October or November and it burned until I went away for a few days towards the end of march and then restarted for a few more weeks. At the start of the year I will get the odd little harmless spider but that's about it. At my old location in Southern Ontario I'd get lots of house centipedes due to the humidity of having several reef tanks but they don't exist up here in the north.

My neighbour who is probably close to 40 years older than me spent much of the summer chopping with an axe, although I get the feeling he was getting ready for more then just one year. I was tired just watching him. This year my big thing was stacking the wood closer to the house so it would be slightly earlier. I don't plan on living here forever. Next house will be back to adjusting the thermostat and paying the gas bill.

Example of how much wood we bring in for a few days :

And to keep it on topic the tank you can just barely see across from the wood

And because this is a mess of a newly setup tank, here is one of my main display :

That is a new addition. It is the return to the the UV Sterilizer I plumbed into my system.

    Kudos to you. Very nice.

That view could go well with the Blue Danube. When I saw 2001 A Space Odessa, it was the first time that I heard The Blue Danube. Back then, I never dreamed that we could create such a panarama in our homes. One of the early reef aquarium authors said, “We nuture what we love”.

I love your creations, great quote, I know I have only been in the "hobby" 10 years or so but after 4 or 5 years I tried to understand why I had to put effort in to my tanks!
I designed the tank to be minimum effort, it should be able to deal with the nutrients on it.s own?
I do dose and top up manually, I wanted to do the mixed reef including sps tank they told me I couldn't do. :)
The display is about 50% of the water volume, it sort of works for me! ;)
