Leveling mat concerns (again)

What do you all think about this corner floating free and not supported by the leveling mat? Does this pose any issue for long term integrity of tank when filled? It’s a 125 gallon 60x22x22 rimless tank with 19mm thick panels and inner bottom glass bracing (mariner 130). Thanks.

I might be more concerned about the damage but I'm not a expert in what damage is acceptable or not.

If the side and front are sitting on the bottom panel . No worries. The chip could be an issue. Keep an eye out for cracks around it. Camera shots are not the best at letting people assess the chips in glass

Oh I think that is just the plastic wrapping on the tank bunched up.

Is the mat made for the tank? If not, I would get one specifically for that tank.

It is - its glued to the stand top panel.

And the tank itself is completely supported by the top panel.

I guess I am trying to understand the implications if there is a part of the tank that is not "supported" by the leveling mat. I have read on this site of this issue leading to tank failures (see https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/innovative-marine-tank-disaster.913193/).

But at the same time if the point of the leveling mat is to just smooth out imperfections in the stand top surface that may lead to stress points in the tank bottom, if the just a small corner is not in contact at all would that matter? Can I just put a small piece of leveling mat where the defect is and call it a day?

I wouldn't try to shim anything up. If it will make you sleep better, I would contact the manufacturer. Assuming you bought it new.

Hi! Congrats on your new Mariner tank! We had a few people with the same concern, and now their tanks have been running for some time with zero issues. After some time, the leveling mat evened out and posed no problem afterward. You can also check out our Official Mariner Owners Facebook group, and the satisfied Mariners can share their thoughts and experiences.

The leveling mat is in place to provide a cushioned base for the aquarium to compensate for any minor surface irregularities between the cabinet top and the glass bottom. Sometimes the mat will be compressed during shipment, which usually decompresses over time. Should one area, such as a corner, not be in contact with the leveling mat, this poses no structural risk whatsoever.
