Hello smart people. Happy holiday season.

What do you think about the bellow idea?
I am planning my own reef aquarium.
there is a theoretical option to drill some holes in the plywood bellow the tank such that it will be possible to position small light LEDs. Whatever colour I choose (DIY).
Assume there is no sand in the tank which might otherwise obstruct the light.
is it worth while to project light in that way to the lower levels of the Tank ? to the bellow situated rocks and corrals.
is it a crazy idea ?

consider that the bottom glass may end up being coverd with coralline algae.

interesting idea though

If going bare bottom, you could always paint the bottom glass prior to putting the tank together.

The bottom will get covered in algae and coraline. If you felt like maintaining that spot on the glass it would work.

Perhaps you could get some heavy glass discs to cover the lights, and just swap them out when they get crappy.
