Just purchased the set up, so not ready for lights yet, but at they are easily one of the biggest investments on the tank I wanted to start exploring options.

Would like a set up that can grow with me as I learn and grow with the hobby, without breaking the bank (wishful thinking, I'm sure.)

This is my first tank, so will plan to start housing fish, softies and inverts...adding LPS as I learn and the tank grows and stabilizes etc.

I realize there are a lot of options, and I continue to explore those but I would love to hear what others are using for a similar set up.

Also, was wondering if anyone builds, uses or has seen any sort of canopy/hood for a tank this size to house the lights and make things look a little cleaner and sexier....since it is the centerpiece of one of the main rooms in our home.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
~T

Reef Breeder Meridians would be a good choice. 2 35's work.
Not cheep but you won't need to upgrade.
I run 2 Photon 50's on my ext 170.

Nicrew Hyperreef Gen 2. 3 of the 150s or 200s will work.

Great thing is they use Radion mounting hardware. So if you want to hang them, get a Radion RMS rail and hanging kit and you’re set. If you don’t want to hang them, each light comes with a tank mount that works really well

On my IM 200 EXT I use 4 Reefi Uno 2.1 and two Quanta Pro Meso blue bars.

Obviously you don’t need that much lighting for softies and LPS. You could probably do three Reefi uno 2.1 with 120 degree reflectors.

Im thinking about moving to this setup. Any opinions on it?

I like it. I came from Radions. I liked the radions too, but I’ve got a lot more blue spectrum with this, so I can get good pop even during the white part of the cycle. Certainly is powerful. I’m using Kasa dimmers to dim my quanta bars to 60%. My reefi’s only top out 69w each, and I’m still pushing 300 par at the acro level of my tank (about 3/4 up in the tank).

Only thing I miss from radions is the red leds. I used to use them to pop reds, yellows and oranges on fish during the all blue part of my cycle. Now the all blue is just all blue, so Fish are kinda washed out then. But they look great during the day.
