I was just given a small colony of this chalice and was wondering what type lighting it likes. I have a 400 watt Helios 20k, but I can provide shade, partial shade, full, etc. thanks.

Lower light it will color up much better. Higher light will make it grow like a weed but will be more brown-esque.
More important is give it A LOT OF ROOM!!!! It is very very mean w/ 3"+ feeders on it. Keep your SPS far away. Occasionally a feeder will detach, stick and melt whatever it touches. It even wooped my sub-echinata.

Yikes! beating up an Acan. Lower is definitely better with chalices. They're flat to collect the little light that reaches the reef base. High light bleaches them out.

I was searching the net for more info, and here it is right from the horse's mouth with pic:

REEF FARMERS

Not a fancy looking chalice by any means, and it looks like low light is the ticket for nice blue coloration.

Thanks for everyone's help.
