Hello,

I wanna discuss lighting in fish only applications.

I am currently using some cheap popbloom rl60 lights over this setup and the results are below. (please ignore the reef tanks reflection in the glass)

I want to know if anyone has any other opinions on lighting FOWLR tanks and im curious if i can make changes to improve the look on this setup. I have the lights set to more whites and less blues to help bring out alot of the different fishes colors as you can see here with the snowflake. Anyone run any of the freshwater kessil lights ? i like the shimmer those bring and i think it may take the visuals of the tank up a bit. Tune suns? or maybe even the Tuna blues ?

Thanks in advance

I currently use two (2) 12" AI Blade Grows sitting on the "L" Stands on top of glass lids on my 5' 150-gallon FOWRL. Without full intensity, between the blue and white settings I can achieve the look I want to see my fish and not grown any algae. What size tank are you lighting? If it's a smaller tank, and you are generally happy with your current lighting, I wonder if simply adding Kessil A80s would add the shimmer you might be looking for?

Currently they are in a 4x2 120 gallon tank but they are all moving to a 180 here in a few weeks so as im getting everything ready for the move im considering adding a different light setup.

I dont hate the popbloom lights they are always just alittle too like (purple) when you add in the blues you can see in the picture above its not like horrible by any means just wondering if it could be better ya know

Every tank i have ever seen with kessils i have really liked

I have a 180 gallon tank with 3 NICREW planted aquarium lights. Two run front to back and the other goes between the two. No reason to spend a ton of money on lights.

They're a lot of money initially, but Reefis can really make your fish's colors come out. I had 3 Reefis over my 100g fowlr and then moved them to another tank that needed the light more, the viparspectras now over the fowlr aren't nearly as good at capturing the true color of the fish. Good lighting makes all the difference in the world for a display tank with colorful fish.
