As the title states I’m trying to set up my uf-1 somatic reactor as an algae reactor but I’m not sure what light it with.

I currently use a an kessil a80 blue Over my 10gallon Nuvo 10 and have the controller. I plan on going to a im25 hopefully in the next year or two.

I’m between two lights
The kessil a80 tuna sun and I’ve seen a couple video using this light on amazon as I don’t really want to wrap the led strip around it for heat purposes.
Here’s a link:

I would have to get a timer for this light as I do not want to turn it on everyday. What do you guys run for lighting your algae’s? Thanks for any comments or help!

Nothing will work as well as the wrap around strips. I feel you won't get much heat for 2 reasons. First is that you can use much lower total wattage since it is much closer to the algae. Second is the wide surface area on the outside of the strip that should dissipate heat into the air very well.

I'm not sure you will have much luck growing algae in a reactor using a point source light because of the shadowing. It goes against the big efficiency gain the strip lights offer when using a reactor.

You can also use the grow lights for this I guess? Isn't it. I had referred the website http://bestledgrowlightsreviews4u.com/ for buying one for myself. Though the website is affiliated to the Amazon, the reviews are mostly genuine as I had also purchased the Viparspectra 600W after the reading the reviews from this website. You can give it a try but I am no sure is the grow lights would help you in growing algae or not. I saw the link you posted and the light looked like a mini version of the grow light so I though to recommend you from my side. Hope it helps.
