Lighting Questions

I have a 140 gal rimless tank . Dimensions 40" L x 36"W x 24"D.
I have been wanting a reef tank soooo bad. I have (2) marineland 36- 42 reefcapable
lights across the tank and Nova 8 bulb t5ho Current 4 actinic and 4 10 DKKbulbs. I have the Nova hanging above tank started out 12 " above tank but recently moved down about 8" . I dont know if I need alll the lights but wondered if I alternate the t5's andLEDs would that be the right thing to do for coral health and growth..dont know what to do :squigglemouth:..I appreciate any feedback. Use the leds for accent as I did not see good growth from that brand. The t5s will do you much more good. 8" sounds good. What is your light cycle?

I have been turning on actinics 10:30 10k 11:00 actinic off 5:30 10k off 6:00
my tank is only 32 W..re-measured ..
