I have a custom 100G that measures 41" x 24" x 24". How long of a fixture would be good enough to hit the whole aquarium with proper light for coral growth? 36? 48? To me 48 seems like overkill, but then again I am still trying to figure things out;)

I would say that you answered your own question. I agree and a 36 would work fine for your system.

LEDS are new tech for me, so better to ask then buy a 48 and be upset. Thanks for your input.

Nothing at the moment. Tank has been collecting dust since 2009. When it was up, I had 2x 250 mh and 4x t5 with led moonlight. This fixture is still hanging above it, but can not remember the brand.

Hi,
You should also have a look at Reef Breeders Photon V2 Led Fixtures and SB Reef Lights Fixtures.

I am going to switch to LEDS.

Thanks. there are so many brands and types to look at, it almost overwhelming;)

I would definitely spend some effort to see as many lights in person as you can.

Certainly spend the time to see as many online as you can too.....though this is obviously a lot more limited compared to actually being there to take in the whole situation.

Of your options so far, my preference would be for the ones with better spacing on the LED's.

Consider LED strips too, such as the Current USA Orbit Marine Pro....a 36" dual-Pro kit would work great. (These are one of the few strips with strong lenses....good for 24" deep tanks.)

Look at these online. Would only one of these be sufficient on my tank or would i need 2? or maybe a second one down the road as i start adding more to the tank?

I have a AI Hydta 52, i like it. I don't know if just one of those would give you enough coverage though.

My LFS told me that i would probably be better off with two AI hydra 26's. But i always take everything someone tells me like a grain of salt until i see proof.
