Before i went with an aquarium controller i never had luck with strip timers. I always ended up going to homedepot and getting digital timer or two and set it up that way. Plus most have battery backup so you wont lose your settings.

Don't get the corallife timer strip iirc, that has caused several fires. Having used the Apex and Reef Angel, get the Reef Angel. (as it's got stronger capabilities for a better price and is mechanical outlets by default)
