I HAVE to so something about the algae growth in my reef. I'm either considering fluconazole treatment or a timed blackout. The only concern with the blackout is my 12" Haddoni Carpet. I don't want to do ANYTHING to harm it and would rather have algae than to see it die. Anyone have experience with a blackout with Haddoni and how did it fair? Also, would fluconazole harm it? I hate algae but I love my Haddoni more than I hate algae. Suggestions?

If you do a 3 day blackout the only problem is that they tend to move around

And fish will be fine as well? Can I feed during blackout, as they will be able to see through ambient lighting from windows. Also will corals be fine? Only have a couple, but are very special to me. Do you know anything about fluconazole?
What would a 3 day blackout accomplish? I have GHA and diatoms or dinos are starting to cover the sandbed, maybe cyanobacteria as well.

A black out is when you completely cover the tank and not allowing any light into the tank. (Needs to be pitch black in the tank ). The fish and coral will be fine.
