Nice and bloody! I was hoping mine got a bit more red but did get a bit darker after he started eating more aggressive. Did yours morph color after some time in your tank ?

It has always had good colour, I had two to choose from, I picked the darker one, it looked nosy! ;)

Anyone know what this guy is. You rarely see them, he is so in my face he won't let me get a good pic of his tell tale trait. All the blue is underneath and on his foot(hint). He's in a new lion tank with a fu.

They really do like palling around in my 90 reef.

Parapterois heterura - the Blackfoot Lion-fish

Very rare in the hobby from what I’ve seen. They tend to look more scorpionfish-like and flat-bodied when they get bigger from what I’ve seen.

My little red dude or dudette, it gets hand fed but also takes flake and pellet, I have a small zebra reserved at my lfs! ;)

Did you ever grab that zebra ?

Told my LFS to let me know when one comes in. Started prep for my 120g SPS now that I see how these guys swim I’m confident they will have NP in a SPS dominant tank. Goal is 2 fuzzys and a Fu or Zebra. I picked up a 2nd fuzzy yesterday even darker red than the one I have both glance at each other and kept it moving. The old one really found his spots in my LR but really loves the chalice although my heaviest flow is there he makes it work

I this is the new guy in town, yes I think I have lionfish fever I actually walked in for a leopard wrasse walked out with the wrong Cat that fuzzy had just came in Sunday and was already eating brine like a champ hitting the glass trying to get to the other tank that was being fed. LFS said he had hints of yellow when they opened the containers but I think they just wanted to bump the price up I don’t believe the yellow variate come from the Red Sea this one is, he did look nice tho paid a few extra than the previous although this one is 1.5” at Max the one in the tank is just a tad bigger

How big is your tank ? Will 2 fuzzy and a zebra be ok In a 120g?

You just have to be careful sometimes 2 males(fuzzies) may go at it, a 120 may be large enough, but keep a watchful eye. You wont be albe to definitively sex until they are about 4 to 4.5 inches. The male will have 5 of more bands on his fins while the females have less than 5.

As far as the Yellow variant, actually many times are just bunched in with the rest, a bit of yellow maybe looking brown mostly, stress and poor conditions. Its really luck of the draw many times, a little yellow when they come in, then they really color up in a healthy tank.
