little red worms acro eating type.

So I thought I could kill these suckers with the interceptor medication. I did a treatment yesterday and killed all of my crab's luckily my cleaner shrimp survived but the little worm like suckers are still moving around on my acro's. I am hoping there is a solution because these guy's are reeking havoc on my reef. I mainly have sps except one chalice. all my stuff is new little frags. If anybody has any advice that would help me eradicate these guy's that would be awesome. I always hear the horror story's and the common sense rule of dipping your corals on arrival so now I am kicking myself in the head. I am the type that has to really screw it all up until I realize things for myself though. Anyway's durrrrr any help would be gratefully excepted. Thanks

Start dipping them in revive every couple days and check for any eggs if you see them scrape them off... Frags shouldn't be a big deal...

I have yet to experience red Acro eating worms? All the AEFW I have dealt with are very camouflage but when looked at in a white bucket they end up looking light brown or cream colored. Are the worms you have on the rocks as well and almost flat on the ends or squarish? If so sounds more like Planaria and can be treated with Salifert Flat worm exit. If they are a red strain of AEFW dipping and a quarantine leaving your tank Acro free for a few months is your only hope to be done with them for sure. It is much better that you have frags as I am just finishing up a tank wide treatment on my main display. When getting new coral always dip and blast the coral with a turkey baster after it is in the dip for a few minutes if you do end up with little worms peeling off the coral you are taking a big chance putting in your display as dip will not kill the eggs. if you are going to take a chance my advice is to cut off the base and don't put any part of the coral in your tank that is uninspectable because it is grown over as this is where the worms lay there eggs. I dip every coral and ended up with worms so be careful there are sellers and LFS that do not mention the fact that they dip before they ship because they know they have a problem, this is how I ended up with them and I have a good idea where they came from. Good luck and I hope it is planaria you have as AEFW is tough on coral and the little red worms are an easy fix.

wow, red AEFW, Do they seem to be effecting the tissue of your corals? Bite marks? bleaching?

Ya I guess they are more brown than red...Dang it all to. Well I guess revive is the way to go. I am going to have to set up another system for awhile. Man that sucks!!!! I do have tissue loss on about three different pieces and it starts at the base. I am sure who ever sold me the frags knew and just dipped and shipped. Big lesson learned. Thanks for your help everyone.

Yeah man, dipping is the way to go, it doesn't matter who i get my frags from I ALWAYS dip and now i QT everything also

I have always dipped everything that goes into my tank and still ended up with AEFWs. Quarantine is the only way to be safe. I have heard some wrasses eat them also.

Dip them in Coral RX.

my melanorus wrass was amazingg when i ggot the good clear kind of Flat worms. On a side note when my wrass get his adult colors he is amazing. Good luck. Very good advice. everyone.
