Live rock addition raised kh

Hey guys
My kh jumped up .6 from yesterday and the only thing I’ve done is a flat piece of fake live rock about 8x6”
I washed it first and it was very sandy , could this be true ?

So, when you say fake live rock, I assume you mean dry rock? It sounds like the rock you purchased needed cured before adding it to the tank. It's probably leaching. What brand or type of rock did you purchase?

Yeah not sure the brand but I guess it cement , it does need curing time I know but it can be in tank if it’s a dodgy piece out a tank
Will soon become live since there’s a health biome to join the other 40kg

The alk may keep rising for a while if it is cement that’s not fully cured.
