Has anyone ordered from Live Rock N Reef before? https://www.liverocknreef.com/

Looks like the have live rock from Fiji and Australia. Is there any benefit or difference between live rock from Florida or the Gulf of Mexico?

I got some rock from them years ago when they had an SLC shop.
it was rock from all over then. not to live but the shapes where good. that was 10years ago or so....

so not really much help. maybe some one will chime in that has got there rock in the last few months.

To my knowledge they’ve been around for years. (A couple Decades even?). I’ve never ordered from them.

From what I’ve seen, Aussie rock is very light weight so you get more rock for less weight if that makes sense. It is what many deem as “real” live rock as it is not aquacultured, however it’s been stated they only collect loose pieces of rock and do not “blast the reef” like the old days. However it is quite pricey.

The Fiji, if I’m not mistaken, is Walt Smith Aquacultured Fiji. Basically the same as what the gulf companies have done, putting rock in the ocean to mature and then selling it, except I believe the Walt rock is also handmade (and from what I hear, not much in the way of “shapes”)

I have heard of some decent hitchhiker coral on both though (I think some got an SPS of some type and another got some Zoas).

Other than that, I don’t believe there’s a “huge” difference between pacific vs gulf. I know TBS was using dry Walt Smith rock on their aquaculture site. Not sure if they still are or not @LiverockRocks?

The TBS farm has vintage rock planted by the founder: Bahamian quarried, Florida quarried, bit of Pukani and Walt Smith rock from 2015. A few years ago, we planted 75,000lbs of Walt Smith rock in various shapes (branch, slabs, honeycomb, arches, caves) and a few tons of Florida limestone.
