I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but has anyone battled Dinoflagellates (specifically SCA or LCA) and added live sand/rock. Did it make a difference? I've seen a few videos hypothesizing that the use of Dry Rock is contributing to Dinoflagellates blooms, but no videos from anyone who tested that theory.

I was struck with SCA dinos early on in my setup and I started with dry rock. I tried so many different approaches and nothing worked until I did the Elegant Corals Dino Recipe/Treatment protocol. This removed/controlled them and they have not returned. But also, my tank is much more mature now as well.

I've been using Mack's Dinoflagellates protocol and it works to the point where there are no dinos left on any microscope slides, but within the month their back and I'm getting really tired of this cycle

That might be the person I heard who copied our thread.....not sure how good the copy is, so IMO check the first post out and make sure you've "checked all the boxes" to assure your tank is not a candidate for dino blooms!

Dinoflagellates – Are You Tired Of Battling Altogether?

There are a couple of supplements folks have created as well, but I can't edit the thread anymore to add them to the first post. You'll see them mentioned elsewhere though....one's a photo guide, the other is a sort of cheet sheet.

It will only help temporarily. If you really want to get rid of dinos you need to id which type you have. Also have heard some have success doing a RIP clean which means removing all your current sand and either cleaning it or replacing with new sand
