Thinking of getting a piece off divers den mariculture, do mushrooms and other Mariculture or wild coral "color up" or "cook" like acros?

Depending on what type of mushrooms you’re talking about it depends. Often times Ricordea will change colors. A lot of those are wild caught. I’ve also had discosoma shrooms change a bit. Rhodactis seem to keep their colors pretty well. For example this is a red shroom I bought from WWC a few years ago. And this rainbow recordea from WWC. Compared to the pictures when purchased to several months later in tank. They changed a bit. You see the red shroom beneath the TSA firework cloves polyps. Same red shroom. And the ricordea on the far right. There’s actually two ricordea. The rainbow ain’t so rainbow anymore. They took pictures on their site under actinic lighting, so here’s a comparison with actinic lighting also.

This is one bounce rhodactis in particular, you can see the color underneath, is this potential color or its likely to look the same?

I’ve honestly never had any mushroom color up so to speak. That’s just my experience. Seems the same with Acans. You buy a pretty rainbow acan and they eventually morph in to some other shade/color and lose that rainbow look. At least they do for me anyways. Ha.
