Long term issues with dosing H2O2?

Doesnt hydrogen peroxide dissociate quickly upon addition to the tank water? Seems like it would not be beneficial in a reef tank at all at the concentrations sold in the pharmacy. They do dose higher concentrations for external parasites but I don't think I want to start dosing a power oxidizer in my reef tank.

No side effects. Either works or does not. I've seen targets develop resistance, necessitating the step up to 35% depending on details

Would i dose continually? No, habituation. There's better ways than constant drip but side effects are so low i recall none.

"Either works or does not"

How can you reasonably suggest to do something with no quantifiable metric of success? lol

OK, none of the work on file applies here and yall know the details, even without any testing outbound. Gotcha

I'll take notes from your theories.

But where real work is due, you're missing always, gotcha. You can warn of dangers from the sidelines though.

Does hydrogen peroxide dosing alter the bioavailability of trace elements?

Is that covered in your "work threads"?

If someone wants to dose for dinos, we can predict strongly what goes down. It's in troys thread above, no guessing needed

Randy

Who's tank is harmed by that? In our threads, nobody.

What's covered in work threads is the opposite of theory threads.

Great. Unfortunately, that is NOT the question the OP asked.

Randy, your warnings have not evolved with the work outcomes on file

The op can read troys thread for real world impacts, concerns, and answers. Not here.

Here is warnings same you were saying in 2011. We're past that, by miles.

The fact you won't refer to troys thread, or anyone's for readers, but digs in heels sounding constantly as if it has no utility, only risk, is refusal to evolve.

We saved many tanks with this tool, thousands in fact. Why not tell readers the truth you can see?

Why do you withhold work threads as reading material? Secrets away work that isn't your achievement?

People close to losing tanks need to see real world help, not warnings over and over with scary first person testimony. They need work threads using other people's tanks in ten year patterns.

I don't even know how to address this since you are not apparently listening.

I'll give an analogy, and then I'm done addressing your vague references to work threads that prove your point.

Reefer A doses 2.5 dKH of alk per day in a reef tank. It looks great. I've seen hundreds of other examples doing the same. Those are work threads that cannot be denied.

conclusion: its fine to dose 2.5 dKH per day in a reef tank.

To be clear, I never argued that. But when offering multiple approaches to a singular problem without isolated evidence and data points to substantiate the individual items it may lead to erroneous results for others. As we all know, there is no one size fits all solution to almost any problem in this hobby.

My point is that if I were to tell you that my car broke down on the highway and you told me to; fill the gas tank, change the oil, and replace the battery.. Then the car started working fine. How can I, as someone who is not knowledgeable on cars, be able to say what the problem is? Then I would parrot the same advice to anyone whose car breaks down.

When the op posted here, you should have shown him the work Troy did as the answer.

The work threads are more valuable than what balancing equations did on paper. Not telling that to those seeking work thread input when you've seen the threads for ten years?

Anecdote is all we have with peroxide in reefing, so don't try and over science it. We do the real work, we make the safety predictions that's the real world.

Actively dissuading readers from seeing work threads is the grain we work against, to get them the best truth of the day/ and then actually help them with it.

That's what's on file, we work against the chemists not with them regarding reef tank peroxide. Where the work is: chemists aren't. That's what's on file in 100% of peroxide work threads.

Chemipride is the reason nobody did.

The issue is that the OP isn't trying to solve a diatoms issue, he's trying to identify the possible adverse side effects of H2O2 dosing over a longer period.

Visual observation will not answer his question, nor will results in other aquariums. This is a question that needs to be answered using evidence based science not anecdotal observations.

No harm comes in our threads because we reduce lighting power/ recurring theme/ to stop irritation if there's dosing to the tank.

Troys thread here is the oldest resource I know. Any melts here? Panic, fails, crashes?

It's not a wonder drug, it's a results producer for those brave enough to work it in other people's tanks.

Here's eleven years continual:
The point of this thread is long term dosing, not spot treatment.

I agree it is all you have. It is not all others necessarily have.

We've done lots of long term doses, I stated how those work, troys thread is all long term doses pretty much. You didn't know that because chemists here don't want you to see a single work thread.

So here, while yall are battling, I'll be getting a message or two asking to work some tanks. That's what grows the threads you don't value :)

It always goes this way, that is why in two years we will have +50 more pages of real jobs worked we can ignore here, but irw that will be the road map used to fix reefs.

The balanced fair input on peroxide in reefing is now set. With examples to see.

* We weren't going to get to see that work from Troy due to the propensity to withhold relevant work, we fixed that.

It has been a true joy forcing peroxide in as permanent reef tool despite this level of kickback that has never abated not one degree.

That was done by results, not by battling chemists who always win the equations battle.
