Too many people these days think liking you on facebook is the same as meeting/talking to you in person. A lot of clubs have dwindled and/or gone away from lack of support or interest unfortunately.

I think I said this before in this thread, but, perhaps unfortunately, I think the online forum has supplanted the local reef club. I very much like R2R and connecting with knowledgeable reefers from across the world, but nothing beats getting free or nearly free frags from a fellow, local hobbyist that's over run, and genuinely looking to "rehome" some of their frags.Too many people these days think liking you on facebook is the same as meeting/talking to you in person. That's cool you're getting back into the game. I've got about a 3 year wait ahead of me but I'll be right behind you soon enough!I was in ORCA too! About 20 years ago :D Mac and Pam were my neighbors and I even did presentations a couple times for a couple meetings! I miss that so much, and that is exactly why i am on here now! I was googling if ORCA still was around. I am JUST starting back into my saltwater tanks and I am very excited
Why a 3 year wait? and ya, it was CO theraputic and fun. I loved keeping aquariums, and saltwater in particularThat's cool you're getting back into the game. I've got about a 3 year wait ahead of me but I'll be right behind you soon enough!
What part of fl r u located man?More less yes, coming from Njrc we had those up north, and now that I'm in Florida, I cant seem to find anything like that down here.
Swaps are one thing but after a while, with the local clubs, you start to develop friendships with fellow reefers (atleast I did)....ya know folks you can just talk "tank" with.
Anyways, I'll poke around some of the FL forums and see.
Welcome to R2R!Hello R2R
Does anyone know of an active, Florida reef keeping club? Also, is there anyone in FL looking to reboot any of the old reef clubs?
I'm itching to join a local club but I can't seem to find one that's around and kicking.
