New to the hobby and loving the experence so far! I have searched and found infromation around what I am facing but nothing conclusive that made me it feel resolved for me. But there is also the layer of am I over thinking? this happening as well.

Background:
75 Gallon display
20 gallon long sump

Eclipse L overflow
1900 GPH pump
2x 1050 GPH wave pumps

Target livestock - Some fish, soft and LPS

Just setup and breaking it all in. Everything is working as expected with about a 10x turnover. Quiet and all that. I started going down the rabbit hole of you need flow to be 20x-40x So I started opening the vavles and turning up the pump. Things were moving and I was feeling good. Then I noticed the inner overflow box was making noise were the water was passing thru so fast the holes at the top were creating a waterfall type of effect into the box on the tank side. If I slow things down again it goes away. So I guess what I am trying to figure out is does it really matter? Is 10x turn over on a 75gallon fine since I have 2x wave pumps also? If not and I really need to speed things up again how do I break the waterfall sound? Is it possable to add mesh into the inner box or something?

Thanks for the feedback!

I usually aim for about 3-5X the water volume for the return pump, and let my power heads do the larger turnover needed for tank flow.
If you have a skimmer, they are more efficient with slower flow.

EDITED: BTW, Welcome to Reef 2 Reef!
