I have a newer 15 gallon cube with some soft corals and can’t get nitrates to register. Have the oddball tiny amount of Dino’s on some polyps. I have used salifert and api nitrate both undetectable.

I feed the tank a lot, feed lots of reef roids and still nothing. Phosphates elevate but not nitrate. Are the corals just absorbing the nitrate?

I also have a 2 year old 14 gallon that has the same issue and the soft corals grow super slow. Should I dose nitrates? I have tried feeding and doing no water changes. Can’t seem to get them up. That tank is also experiencing small levels of Dino but (small strands on polyps here and there).

Thanks for any guidance

I think probably a testing error, reefroids are absolutely full of po4, so makes me think you probably do have nutrients.

I would dose nitrate now (10 ppm) and then feed more regularly. Dinos are not a thing to take lightly.
